A Frozen Halloween

Well, she did it again! Our creative, passionate, spicy one as the ring leader of all her siblings came up with the idea and as a mom who loves a good theme, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to mix bargain with creativity.

DSC_0608aThe 1st chance we got, we headed to our favorite thrift store and found 2 dresses for $8 each which  became the base for the girls costumes. I also found a fur-covered purse for $5 which was transformed into the vest for Amelie, as Sven the reindeer (above). As I began to shop around, collect the accessories, fabric, ribbon trim, felt, and dug through their drawers and closets,  I began to realize I had A LOT of work to do and wondered what I had gotten myself into …

~~~~Enter SUPER Mimi to the resuce~~~~
DSC_0787a I played it off like I had it under control but I’m sure she could see right through me that I was desperately and abundantly appreciative that she was willing to  help so much with her amazing sewing skills!
Besides the Olaf hat, she made this beautiful trio happen!
DSC_0534aThe alterations to the dresses, so the girls were comfortable in a perfect fit, the Anna cape, the pom-pom trim on the Anna cape, the gold trim on the Anna vest, the glitter mesh on the Elsa sleeves, a sparkly cape for Elsa and the Olaf sleeper sack, all done by your incredible Mimi, ladies!
DSC_0536aThis is what Soren thought of my photo shoot..
DSC_0580aAfter 2 hours of dressing, applying make-up, running around as the beads of sweat ran down my back, looking for a missing shoe, a missing beanie, changing a diaper, nursing a baby, putting a certain left boot on for the 4th time, looking for a missing camera, finding the camera, jumping up and down trying every trick I had in my pocket to get them to stand together in the same square for just 1 second, ONE second….aaaaand I still did not get the group shot of all 5 I had hoped so badly I would get before the clock was ticking down to this….
DSC_0571aSo, after a playdate for the big 2 and naps for the little 3, I took a deep breath and tried again.
The girls didn’t mind at all the chance to put on make-up 2 times in 1 day..Does this encompass sisterhood or what? I have a feeling I’ll be seeing this image at least 1 more time several years down the road 😉
DSC_0448aAlizea took her role as Elsa very seriously, arguing with me over the right shade of eye shadow
DSC_0639aAnd wherever the big girls are, there you will find Amelie…
DSC_0446aOf course, Soren took 1 of the longest naps in awhile, while the girls were itching to get outside and get going so we had to stall them a bit..
DSC_0682aMy beautiful Genevieve, as Anna. So fitting because her temperament is so carefree, so forgiving, so incredibly unselfish.
DSC_0455aThe girls with their best pal, Miu, another Elsa (surprise surprise ha!)
DSC_0806aMy handsome little Kristoff
DSC_0870aAnd finally after 4 adults hootin’ and hollarin’, jumping up and down like a crazy maniac and probably 100 attempts, I got it! All Five of them. In one frame. All looking at the camera. Happy momma 🙂
DSC_0837aFrom left to right (Genevieve, 4 3/4, as Anna; Soren, 3 1/2, as Kristoff; Yvette, 4 months, as Olaf; Amelie, 1 3/4, as Sven; Alizea, 7 1/2, Elsa)
Thank you Mom for helping to make this vision of “ours” become a reality! I don’t know if you knew this, but Alizea was so excited and proud to share her idea of her pack of siblings in character to everyone she came in contact with!!! The late nights for me are so worth the memories she and Gen will have!
